What if I use my USB flash drive only once to store my data? Will it work after 20 years?

In theory, flash drives should last longer than an external hard drives. But from personal experience and over the years I have noticed one thing. Hard drives tend to last longer. I’ll explain. Hard drives are not limited to how much data you can write to them - technically. Unlike all flash drives, that eventually become read only from “NAND flash wear out” syndrome. So the more you use your flash drive, the lower of lifespan it will have. Once the cells have worn off and become read only, it’s not far from them dying completely. That is when you usually connect your flash drive and instead of 32gb capacity, you see only 150mb. That means the NAND flash cells have worn off completely and became obsolete. This also means that your SSD hard drive, will not last as long as your regular spinning HDD. I did a blog post a while back on this topic Advantages & Disadvantages of Solid State Drives Hope that made sense.
